Anne’s story

Anne grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. She loved outdoor activities, especially swimming, and was a member of her high school swim team. Anne was first diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder when she was 31. She was experiencing symptoms of mania like racing thoughts, changes in sleep, and difficulty in concentrating at work.

Her concern over her symptoms was heightened by the fact that Anne’s father had been diagnosed with what was then called manic depression. Manic depression is now called Bipolar Disorder.
