Lifestyle choices may have an impact on the way you feel. That’s why healthy habits can help in your treatment plan.
It's important for everyone to try and maintain good personal health. Some healthy living tips include the following:
Maintain a balanced diet. A balanced diet should consist of the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs to provide you with a consistent level of energy to get you through the day. A healthy balance should include:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Whole grains such as cereals, breads, and pasta
- Lean proteins such as poultry and fish
Also, schedule meals at regular times, and avoid sugary or fatty fast foods, snacks and caffeine-based drinks.
Stay active. Whether you get into an exercise routine, or participate in other activities to get you moving, staying active can help you manage energy and stress. Be sure to choose activities that are enjoyable to you, and don’t feel like a chore. Some people might not like going to the gym, but really enjoy taking walks through the park. Figure out what you like, or pick something new that you want to try and possibly ask a friend or family member to join you. Make sure you talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Disrupted sleep patterns can affect your mood. It’s important to go to bed and wake up at a consistent time every day, even on weekends. This may help you feel less drowsy or sleepy during the day, which may allow you to sleep better at night.
